Applications permeate all aspects of our lives, ranging from health and social care through fraud prevention and computer games to digital assistants. The MSc Artificial Intelligence at Aberystwyth University will give you an opportunity to study machine learning and computational intelligence, applied data mining, and statistical concepts, methods and tools. Examples of current and emerging artificial systems include home robots (for entertainment or assisting those with special needs), supply chain management systems, robots used in medical practice, robots in space, on land and at sea.Researchers from Aberystwyth have been active in all these areas.OverviewThis degree is ideal for anyone with a first degree in any Computing subject who wishes to accelerate their career as a software engineer. It broadens your experience of the tools, methods and techniques used by professional software engineers, and focuses on the application of advanced software engineering, preparing you for responsible positions in the software industry.It is available as a one year intensive course, or as a two year course, where the student spends a year gaining valuable experience in the software industry after the taught part of the degree, and can apply that experience to their final dissertation project.The most recent Research Excellence Framework (2014) assessment found that 100% of the impact research the department of Computer Science undertakes is world-leading or internationally excellent.

About this university
International students
There is plenty of help and assistance for students travelling from outside the UK to study at Aberystwyth. There is information arranged by country on the website to help with the application process then there are also student exchange programs such as the Erasmus program that the university takes part in. The International Student Support is available once students are in Wales to help with a range of matters from immigration and visas, to living in the UK, finding accommodation and basic matters such as banking and health care issues. The students union is the heart of activities outside the classroom as well as providing help and guidance for students, organising the clubs and societies and also organising regular events. The union operates an Advice Centre to help support students in their daily life as well as represent them in the event of a problem. It also operates a coffee shop and eating place, a student shop and a number of places to get together with friends, relax and study together. There are a vast number of clubs and sports on offer so there is something for all tastes. There are sports clubs such as the archery club or the mountaineering club as well as traditional team sports including football and hockey. Even people interest in martial arts or cheerleading can find a club that suits them. Societies rang interests, faiths, cultures and other subjects from photography and student media groups to the African Caribbean Society and the art society. Students can also give something back to the larger community by getting involved with volunteering and charity work as well as developing new skills while doing this.
