We will provide you with the academic grounding and practical skills needed to start your own business.What will I learn?You'll gain a detailed understanding of businesses in an international context, enabling you to work for a leading global firm or operate across borders with your own company.The course covers the entire process of starting a new business venture, from the initial idea to international expansion. It will help you to identify and develop business opportunities and teach you how to check the feasibility of a venture using key frameworks and tools. It will teach you business growth strategies and what funding options are available to entrepreneurs.You'll also appreciate how enterprises can vary in terms of their mission, from commercial ventures aiming to maximise profits to social enterprises who prioritise social wealth creation. We also explore entrepreneurship in the context of family business and corporate intrapreneurship.We'll equip you with a broad knowledge of the international business environment. You'll develop an understanding of how the external environment can affect business decision-making and behaviours. We examine foreign market entry modes, approaches to international trade, how international businesses are structured as well as the impact of technology and country policies on company strategy.We examine the traits and characteristics often associated with successful entrepreneurs and help you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. One of the following: A good UK honours degree (minimum lower second class) or equivalent overseas degree recognised by Aston University. International Students: An official academic transcript, with an official English translation, of your university grades to date. Students whose native language is not English will also need to satisfy our English language requirements. Pre-sessional English language programmes are available for good applicants whose English qualification falls just short of these requirements. Postgraduate masters students enrolling to Aston Business School with a 5.5 in one of the four IELTS sections will be required to engage with English language tuition as part of our professional development programme, The Aston Global Advantage. There will be no extra cost to the student. We recognise the value of extensive professional experience. If you do not have the academic qualifications, but have extensive and relevant professional experience and a proven ability to succeed, we would welcome your application.

About this university
Students travel from some 130 countries around the world to study at the university. This means there is plenty of help and assistance on hand for those travelling from outside the UK. There is free advice and assistance with a range of immigration and visas issues as well as help for those with changing circumstances and those wishing to bring their family with them. There are also preparatory programs in place covering English language to assist those for whom it isnâ€™t a first language. There is also assistance on hand with student accommodation and other matters relating to integrating with their new community as well as meeting up with others from their own cultural background. Aston Studentsâ€™ Union is the representative of the students while they are attending the university. They provide a range of clubs and societies as well as Welfare Services and are partially funded by a number of commercial services. The Union Building covers some five floors and is at the heart of the main campus. These include a Union Shop offering snacks, stationary and other essentials as well as the B4 BAR, a great place for a drink as well as hosting numerous events during the year. There is also The Loft, a social study space on the 2nd floor of the building with an IT suite with Presentations. Clubs and societies come under the sub-heading of the Student Activities office, a small team who organise the 34 sports clubs and over 100 societies that students can get involved with during their time at Aston. There is also an Advice and Representation Centre (ARC) available to help students on a wide range of subject from academic matters to housing issues and even health and wellbeing topics.
