Public Procurement Law and Strategy

Bangor University has opted into the TEF and received a Gold award.

Bangor University is a major international research centre in relation to the operation of national and European law and policies on public procurement law. Building on this extensive experience, we offer a full-time LLM specialising in Public Procurement Law and Strategy.The main educational aims of the programme include:

• To provide candidates with postgraduate level knowledge and skills in the area of national (UK and Irish), European and International (WTO, World Bank and UNCITRAL) Public Procurement Law and Strategy.
• To build up specialist legal skills and knowledge to equip candidates to operate in the interface between legal principles that apply in the Public Procurement environment and the strategic objectives of interests to organisations in the public and private sectors.
• To provide a flexible programme enabling candidates to develop national, European and international perspectives on Public Procurement law issues and practice, which will open up a whole new area of opportunity for graduates.

A strategic element of the programme is the presentation of learning from the perspectives of both the public procurement function and private sector supplier organisations, to help advance understanding of the complex issues organisations involved in public sector tendering face, and to develop more creative legally compliant public procurement solutions.This is achieved through carefully designed module options and collaborative teaching involving the use of academic and expert procurement law and strategy specialists.

The International Student Support Office is the first place for international students to contact when studying in Bangor. They are available to provide help and advice in a range of areas including immigration and visas as well as bringing family members to Wales while studying. They are based in the Rathbone Building on College Road. They also organised English Language Preparation Courses for students to whom English isn’t a first language and range from general courses to pre-sessional and summer courses as well as those while students study. The website also provides information on a by-country basis to use before arriving in the country including entry requirements. The Student Union is responsible for the organisation of services and support for students outside the classroom and all students are automatically members. Included in the societies available to students are a number of volunteering opportunities including through Student Volunteering Bangor that has some 30 projects it is associated with as well as Bangor RAG. There are a total of 150 societies including academic and sports clubs with notable sports including the football and rowing clubs. Fun recreational sports such as canoe-polo and sub-aqua are also available for fitness fans. There are religious societies such as the Christian Union and the Islamic Society as well as hobbies and interest groups such as comedy, drama and photography. There is also a student run radio station called Storm FM. In addition, there is the Student Services department based in the Rathbone Building on College Road who are available to help with a wide range of issues such as financial assistance, careers advice and employment guidance.
