Birkbeck, University of London evaluation:

Description

Birkbeck, University of London has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.

Birkbeck's innovative new LLM in Law and New Technologies is a research-led programme that focuses on how new technologies are transforming the way society operates - the way we communicate, the way we work, the way we do business, the way we travel - and the profound consequences of these changes for the law.The programme is centred around seminars in which you will discuss contemporary challenges posed by new technologies. Following an introduction to practical and theoretical ideas on the most pressing questions connected to law and technology, you will then apply these ideas to contemporary world problems such as the erosion of democracy, climate change, economic inequality, political radicalisation, cybercrime and the new wave of automation facing labour markets. The programme is aimed at both law and non-law graduates.Highlights

  • Birkbeck is a hub of expertise on political economy, and Birkbeck School of Law has a strong tradition of political economy research across its departments of Law and Criminology.
  • Our academic staff are international authorities in their respective fields, and the School of Law is one of the top 10 Law departments for research intensity in the UK and one of the top three in London, and its research environment has been judged to be highly conducive to producing excellence in research.
  • You will benefit from our School of Law's vibrant annual cycle of inspiring expert-led public lectures and conferences, in which School and cross-School research centres and institutes play a key role.
