About this university
International students
International students come to Lincoln from around the world to study at the university and there are plenty of resources to help them adjust. These start with country specific information for the application process as well as for the immigration and visa paperwork required for the move. There is also plenty of student support and advice for all the different aspects of life that those from outside the UK need to adjust to. This includes areas such as getting part time work, a bank account or a general practise registration for healthcare services. There are also plenty of social events, clubs and other activities to help integrate with their community as well as English language support for those who don’t speak or need to improve their English. The student union is at the heart of life outside the classroom at the university and is referred to as the BGSU. The union provides a range of support and advice services for its members as well as representing them within the university and nationally. It is also responsible for the organisation of the clubs and societies as well as organising various social events. The union has a particularly well noted RAG present with money raised for different charities over the last thirty-five years. The various sports teams and solo activities all take part in the British Universities and Colleges Sport leagues against other institutions from around the country. There are also fitness facilities such as sports hall, gym and fields to be used with the various sports. Sports range from traditional ones such as football and rugby to activities such as cheerleading, netball and basketball. In the societies, there are a vast range of subjects covered. These range from interests such as anime and gaming or quidditch to academic areas like history or French as well as those involving performing arts such as drama. Finally, learn something new with a language or cultural group as well as useful skills such as sign language and first aid, skills that may come in useful later in life.
