Description
The course has been created to provide a consistent and standardised series of mandatory content which all students must complete. The breadth of sustainability can be bewildering and we have listened to professionals across this wide field and focused on a series of fundamental areas. In these areas we will explore a wide range of current issues. As a future sustainability practitioner, you may be required to use a broad range of tools and techniques. The course will allow you the opportunity to explore and use tools such as management systems (e.g. ISO14001:2015) life-cycle assessment, Social and Environmental Impact Assessment and stakeholder identification and mapping. Crucial to the successful practitioner is an ability to apply a wide range of legislation and other compliance obligations. While the aim is not to turn you into an environmental lawyer, you will have the opportunity to learn how to access and evaluate the relevance of legislation from a strategic, management and project perspective. In addition to the technical content in the taught modules, we have introduced a series of mandatory modules, designed to help you develop the personal attributes and academic skills to support your studies. These sessions provide an opportunity to address individual learning needs and areas for improvement. This course includes the Creativity and Change Global Professional Development module developed in partnership with the Chartered Management Institute .

About this university
International students
Around one quarter of students at the university travel from outside the UK and their first point of contact is the International Students Hub. This offers a wide range of information and advice to help adjust to their new environment and integrate with the larger community. There is help for matters such as healthcare and accommodation advice as well as support services and even help with English, if this isn't their first language. The Students Union is both a charity and representative organisation for the students at Coventry. They are based in The Hub and support more than 100 sport clubs and societies as well as an advice centre and volunteering department. The union owns a nightclub on Far Gosford Street and there is a student run radio station called Source Radio. Sports teams play in a number of sports as well as in annual competitions against neighbouring University of Warwick. The societies cover all areas of life to bring together people with the same interests and students can even apply to start their own should they find a space for their interest. These range from cultural and international groups to faith societies and music and performance groups as well as politics and special interests.
