The final Project/Dissertation Diabetes module gives students the opportunity to obtain an enhanced understanding of an area of diabetes or to undertake a clinical audit in collaboration with local diabetes consultants.

The service is based within the Saltire Centre in the main campus area of the university. Student life outside the classroom centres around the Students Union, itself an independent charity that represents the students, provides support and advice and organises the extracurricular activities. All students are automatically members. There is also a free law clinic within the university that assists students with legal advice and assistance particularly in matters such as housing, employment and contract law. The union runs a large selection of clubs and societies for students to get involved with. There are some 60 different societies ranging from culture and faith groups to hobby and interest societies. There are also volunteering and charity work opportunities for those seeking to give something back to the wider community. In addition, there are some 35 sports club including traditional and modern sports.
