Sport and exercise psychology is a relatively new and increasingly popular area of applied psychology within the UK.The DPsych Sport and Exercise Psychology is the only programme of its kind in Scotland, with a strong focus on developing outstanding therapeutic skills, inter-disciplinary learning, teaching and research.Sport and exercise psychologists work in all areas of sport and exercise provision, especially professional and Olympic sports and increasing physical activity and exercise participation amongst the general population.They represent a trusted and dependable structure within sports science provision at local, national and Olympic-level sport and across structures in professional football, rugby, golf and the national sports institutes (Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, and England).Sport and exercise psychologists draw upon psychological theory and research, applying them to prevent illness and injury, to promote the highest standards of performance and wellbeing, and increase exercise participation and motivation for all.
Requirements
Entry requirements
UK honours degree 2:1 (or equivalent) in Psychology that meets British Psychological Society (BPS) standards for the Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) plus relevant work experience. Applicants must also demonstrate a level of maturity and experience commensurate with the personal and professional requirements of the programme. Applicants will be required to attend an interview as part of the admissions process, and will be subject to a CRB check. Academic IELTS score of 7.0 (or equivalent) with no element below 7.0.

Caley rates as the second best university in the UK for its international student satisfaction levels. A large part of this is due to the level of international student support on offer as well as the quality of lifestyle on offer. the International Support Team are available to assist with matters such as immigration and visas as well as daily living matters such as making the most of their time in the UK, working between studies and bringing a family to Scotland while they study. The service is based within the Saltire Centre in the main campus area of the university. Student life outside the classroom centres around the Students Union, itself an independent charity that represents the students, provides support and advice and organises the extracurricular activities. All students are automatically members. There is also a free law clinic within the university that assists students with legal advice and assistance particularly in matters such as housing, employment and contract law. The union runs a large selection of clubs and societies for students to get involved with. There are some 60 different societies ranging from culture and faith groups to hobby and interest societies. There are also volunteering and charity work opportunities for those seeking to give something back to the wider community. In addition, there are some 35 sports club including traditional and modern sports.
