The programme admission tutors welcome applications from anyone who can demonstrate a commitment to the subject and the potential to complete their chosen programme successfully. This can be established by showing appropriate academic achievements, or by demonstrating that they possess the knowledge and ability equivalent to the academic qualifications, usually gained through recent practice within the profession. These entry requirements are for guidance and reflect the general level of applicants to whom offers are made, but all applicants may be considered on an individual basis where motivation and commitment are considered, alongside academic requirements. All candidates will either be interviewed in person or where this is not practical, via a portfolio of recent work in hard copy or by digital representation.
About this university
The university welcomes students from around the world to its classes and offers them support and assistance that begins even before they reach Wales. The website contains all the information needed on a country by country basis for the application process as well as for guidance concerning immigration and visa rules and regulations. There is English language support for those wanting to add or improve their grasp of the language and plenty of support with the daily life issues that can be perplexing in a new country. This includes getting a bank account, finding medical assistance and even bringing family with you to the country. There are also student ambassadors on hand to help and guide new arrivals to enjoy their time in Wales as best as they can. At the heart of activities outside the classroom is the Students Guild. This is the place for representation, support and advice for students as well as organising the various clubs and societies for extracurricular activities. These range from sports and performing arts to interest groups and political focuses as well as volunteering and cultural societies. Students can also look to start their own group should they find an interest that they share with others. Sports teams at the university take part in the BUCS leagues against other education institutions around the country. Popular sports include rugby, football, netball, hockey and badminton. In addition, the university has close ties with the North East Wales Mountaineering Club.
