Queen Mary University of London has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
The Human Rights Law programme is designed to enable you to form an advanced conceptual understanding of international law relating to the promotion and protection of human rights at the international, regional and domestic levels.Your fellow students will come from the UK and more than 80 other countries, each able to draw on prior academic and in many cases professional experiences from different jurisdictions to enrich discussion and debate in class.

Law graduates The usual qualification for entry to the LLM programme is a degree in law, or a degree with a substantial law content, of at least 2.1 honours (or equivalent). Law graduates with 2.2 honours who also have other legal qualifications and/or substantial professional legal experience may also qualify. Non-law graduates Non-law graduates with a minimum second class honours degree, that have also obtained a Merit (or 60 per cent) in the Common Professional Examination (CPE) or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) recognised by the UK professional bodies, may also qualify. Non-law graduates may also be considered on the basis of exceptional professional experience (of at least five years) in a legal area or an area directly related to their programme of study. In all cases, a full online application is required in order for a fair assessment and decision to be made. Each application is considered on its merits and on sight of full application documents. A full and detailed CV is required for all applications and is particularly relevant where professional experience needs to be considered.

Students travel to QMUL from some 150 countries around the world, creating a truly global community. Their website contains country specific information as well as information for students before they apply to the university. Once students are in London, there are various resources to help them adjust to their new life including a blog focusing on international students and their requirements. This is all run through the International Office who also offer help on matters such as immigration advice, scholarships and funding and help with accommodation during their stay. The Queen Mary Students’ Union (QMSU) is the heart of student life and is based in the newly refurbished Students’ Hub. It operates a range of services including a bar, café, shop and student media including a newspaper, magazine, radio station and TV station. Students can also use the facilities at the Student Central in Bloomsbury, 15 minutes away by tube, the former University of London Union. They also offer support and representation services for students as part of the National Union of Students (NUS). There are over 190 different societies and clubs on offer for students ranging from sports to theatre and everything in the middle. There are also a number of volunteering opportunities for those who wish to give something back to the community. There is a health and fitness centre called QMotion as well as various sports facilities and team take part in the BUCS leagues. A busy social calendar means there are plenty of performing arts opportunities for students and the Drapers Bar is one of the best entertainment venues in the country.
