The first spot to call at the university is the International Experience Team. This is a dedicated team who offer international students help and advice during their time in Sheffield. Their services start before a student arrives in the country with journey planning and arranging accommodation. There is also help in the form of a pre-arrival guide so students arrive knowing what to expect. There is also plenty of support on offer after this for matters such as immigration and visas, financial support and bringing families to the UK while studying. The Sheffield Hallam Students Union is based in the HUBS building and has a number of facilities available. These include an advice centre, the student union shop, Bar Phoenix, activities areas as well as skills and training opportunities and areas for the clubs and societies on offer. In addition, there is a student wellbeing department to help support students during their studies and careers advice to help prepare for a time after university. There are some 40 sports and 50 other clubs and groups established on the campuses as well as host of volunteering and charity work opportunities. Sports range from archery to badminton, cricket to cycling as well as football, rugby and swimming, to name a few. The societies fall into different categories such as active, appreciation, course and vocational, cultural, faith and belief, performance and political. As well as the student union other services on offer including multi-faith chaplaincy services, a business start-up service to help graduates, IT services and even help with finding part time employment between classes.
