    Description

This unique Master's examines both energy and environmental law and the ways in which they directly impact each another. During your studies, you'll gain a valuable insight into this fast-developing, highly topical industry, and form a solid basis to forge a successful career in this field.Tapping into the growing need for lawyers with interdisciplinary knowledge, this programme will equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate effectively at the intersection of energy and environmental matters. Our programme produces lawyers that understand how environmental law affects the energy industry in its physical, technical, economic and political context. As growing energy demand coincides with the need to move away from fossil fuel dependence, law has a central role to play in enabling the shift to low carbon energy whilst maintaining energy security and the transition to environmentally sustainable economic development. With a unique choice of energy and environment courses such as Corporate Environmental Liability and Oil and Minerals for Good, you will benefit from an advanced understanding and sharpened critical analysis across many key areas, including the current position of energy and environmental laws and how these might change in the future. The programme covers matters of core interest for policy-makers, not only from an energy and environmental perspective but in all fields that provide the foundation for socio-economic functionality and corporate policy. The courses have been carefully designed collaboratively by teaching staff within the university and a range of key external contacts who have a direct role in the industry. This additional input ensures that the Master's degree is aligned to industry competencies and needs, and you will benefit from the programme's specific focus on intensive professional skills courses. The main difference with the LLM Energy and Environmental Law is the replacement of the dissertation with two intensive professional skills exercises.

    About this university

    International students

For students travelling from outside the UK, the International Student Advisors are available to help guide them on a range of issues. This can range from immigration and visas information, non-academic guidance regarding life in the country as well as help on financial matters. They are based within the Student Advice and Support Office and there are also various pages on the website to help with confidential advice and guidance. Students are represented by the Aberdeen University Students' Association (AUSA). It does not operate a traditional students' union arrangement but does operate The Hub, a dining and social centre created in the former central refectory after a refurbishment. There are some 100 clubs and societies for students to get involved with. The AUSA organises these and among them is the Aberdeen University Debater, the oldest organisation founded in 1848. There is also a student newspaper and numerous other arts and media opportunities. Another notable organisation is the Aberdeen Future Fund, a charity that seeks positive relationships from alumni of the university with current students to help prepare for their future. Sports are organised by the Aberdeen University Sports Union and make use of the various facilities around the sites including the fields to the rear of King's College and the Aberdeen Sports Village.

Chart description

These charts show how many students from your university and others applied to the destination university/field of study. Students in the charts shown received offers that were either conditional on additional documentation or unconditional. Others had their applications rejected.

The results are only accurate for academic scores. We highly recommend receiving professional advice from one of our counsellors. Our free services ensure application documents are the best they can be. We estimate that doing so can boost your chance of admission by 5% to 20%.

Acceptance description

The "acceptance chance" is a weighted average of up to three partial scores regarding your academic score/GPA compared to:

  • The official requirements from the university
  • The minimum acceptable academic level according to our experienced counsellors
  • Previous applicants who received offers of admission

If your "chances" are 50%, then we estimate that one out of two people from your university with your academic result would be accepted.

Our algorithm gives a good estimation but focuses on academic scores only. Academic scores are not the only factor. Your language ability, work experience, and activities outside of the classroom will also play a role.

The search results presented are based on students who have received professional advice from one of our counsellors and used our services to ensure application documents are the best they can be. We estimate that using this free service can increase your chance of admission by 5% to 20%.
