About this university
International students
For students travelling from outside the UK, the International Student Advisors are available to help guide them on a range of issues. This can range from immigration and visas information, non-academic guidance regarding life in the country as well as help on financial matters. They are based within the Student Advice and Support Office and there are also various pages on the website to help with confidential advice and guidance. Students are represented by the Aberdeen University Students' Association (AUSA). It does not operate a traditional students' union arrangement but does operate The Hub, a dining and social centre created in the former central refectory after a refurbishment. There are some 100 clubs and societies for students to get involved with. The AUSA organises these and among them is the Aberdeen University Debater, the oldest organisation founded in 1848. There is also a student newspaper and numerous other arts and media opportunities. Another notable organisation is the Aberdeen Future Fund, a charity that seeks positive relationships from alumni of the university with current students to help prepare for their future. Sports are organised by the Aberdeen University Sports Union and make use of the various facilities around the sites including the fields to the rear of King's College and the Aberdeen Sports Village.
