Description

This route is intended for applicants who have a background or strong interest in education, have undertaken some previous study of psychology, perhaps within their first degree, and now wish to develop their knowledge in this area further. The route offers a well-rounded introduction to areas of psychology relevant to the study of human development, learning and education, together with more advanced study examining psychological approaches to particular topics within education. At the end of the route, participants are required to complete a research dissertation on topics in which they have brought or developed a particular interest.

Applicants for this course should have achieved a UK 2.1 Honours degree or international equivalent. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.5 (with a minimum 7.0 in each component) or equivalent.

About this university

International students

Some 11% of students attending Cambridge come from outside the UK and there are more than 60 countries normally represented. The International Student Team are found within the Student Operations of the Academic Division and are available to help international students with all aspects of their time at Cambridge. They are available to assist students with manners such as visas and other legal paperwork, international funding programs as well as helping them adjust when they arrive at the university. The Cambridge University Students Union (CUSU) is the department responsible for the organisation and monitoring of life outside the classroom and all students are automatically members when arriving at Cambridge. One of the centrepieces of student life at Cambridge are the formal dinners that take place in Formal Hall during term while May Balls are held after exam period in May. Student run societies exist across a wide spectrum of interests and there are some 750 registered with the CUSU. The Cambridge Union Society is focused on debating and public speaking and is the oldest free speech society in the world. The comedy club, Footlights, is known for producing famous show business personalities. There are also newspaper and radio projects. Of the many sports on offer at the university, one of the most famous is rowing, with the notable races each year including the Boat Race against Oxford. Other sports range from cricket and rugby to chess. The University of Cambridge Sports Centre opened in 2013 and is the dedicated sports arena for the university.
