University of Central Lancashire has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
The MSc in Applied Public Health is an innovative course which provides a relevant and engaging learning experience for anyone whose work includes some responsibility for the determinants of health. The course has been designed to meet the needs of a wide range of professionals working to achieve improvements in health. It aims to provide participants with the opportunity to develop the skills required to meet existing and emerging challenges in public health.This postgraduate course covers a range of public health disciplines including health improvement, health protection, research methods, healthy settings, media and communication, epidemiology and global, international, national and local issues relating to public health. There is a strong emphasis on appropriate tools and techniques, evidence based approaches and the application of theory to public health practice.

Normally the following general entry requirements apply: Postgraduate Diplomas, Certificates and Conversion Courses: A recognised British first degree or its equivalent, or a BTEC Higher Diploma/Certificate. Applications from all candidates will be considered on their merits and in the light of the nature and scope of the programme or work proposed. About this university
International students
There are an average of 2,000 international students attending the university from over 100 countries, often due to the range of international partnerships in place. There is a dedicated International Office that are available to help with matters such as the application process, visas and immigration advice and even help with coming to live in the city. There are a number of special international events held during the year to help students feel at home and learn about the larger community as well as with ties to their own cultures. The Student Union is the heart of activities outside the classroom as well as offer advice and representation for its members. It operates a two floor bar that has a number of well known music acts having performed there as well as another bar next door that is open every day during term time. There are some 35 different sports clubs on offer for students with many using the sports centre on campus. They take part in the BUCS leagues and also use the UCLan Sports Arena two miles from campus. There are also motor racing societies that run a team called UCLAN Racing. Student run media includes a newspaper called Pluto and there are numerous societies such as arts, interest and culture and faith based.
