Description

This master's in strategic advertising and marketing communications provides the knowledge and skills for successful careers in advertising and communications agencies.

We are the first UK university to offer specialist marketing degrees and we focus on progressing your career in the advertising and communications sector.

About the MA Strategic Advertising and Marketing Communications
This master's will expand your understanding of communications planning, media, consumer decision-making and customer behaviour to meet the challenges of an evolving marketplace. It will suit graduates who wish to pursue management careers, primarily in the advertising and communications sector.

This course helps you develop the management and consultancy skills which are central to the relationship between organisations and customers. You will study advertising and promotional strategies, marketing and branding, and consider how to manage direct and digital marketing relationships and influence customers. You will also explore ethical, global and cultural issues and the impact they have on marketing.

Among the benefits are a variety of guest lectures from the industry. Previously, this has included speakers from organisations such as EQUA, Footprint Digital, Visit Britain and Public Health England.

The course has recently been restructured in collaboration with employers and professional bodies.

Requirements

Entry requirements

You should have an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject at 2.2 or above, or equivalent qualification, from a recognised university or higher education institute and some marketing experience. Alternatively, you should have marketing management experience and a professional qualification equal to the Chartered Institute of Marketing's Diploma in Professional Marketing.

About this university

International students

There is a thriving international community at the university including students from over 100 countries around the world. The International Office is the first point of contact for these students and can help with a variety of matters around living in the UK. This includes assistance with accommodation, registering for medical services and immigration and visas advice. They help with the arrival in London while students get used to their new home and with daily life matters as well as academic ones. There are also language courses on offer for those wishing to learn or improve their English skills. At the heart of student life at the university is the Students Union and all students are automatically members. It offers a range of services to these members including academic and non-academic advice and support, representation and the organisation of various clubs and societies for extracurricular times. It also operates three different bars as well as a shop and an online shop for students. The university has a top record for its sports teams and there are a range of competitive and non-competitive activities on offer. Clubs take part in the BUCS leagues against other universities and colleges and range from cricket and football to netball and self-defence activities. Likewise the societies over all aspects of life including academic, activities and games, campaigning, cultural and performing arts as well as the chance to start their own should students find a niche.
