About this university
International students
The International Office represents students from around the world to offer help and support for new arrivals in the country. They are responsible for everything from education fairs to help attract new students to proving support and advice once students are at Sheffield. They can also provide help and assistance on country specific matters such as visas and immigration as well as financial advice. The University of Sheffield Student's Union is at the centre of student life outside the classroom and is ranked as one of the top in the country. It was formed in 1906 and includes two bars, three club venues, a coffee shop, restaurant and even a student-run cinema unit. The radio station and newspaper are also run by students and there are some 350 clubs and organisations to get involved with. There are also organisations such as volunteering and to do charity work including the RAG or Raising and Giving society, which raises some £150,000 or more each year through various events.
