The DProf is designed to enable you to deepen your understanding of the ethical and theological dimensions of your own professional or organisational context.This is a practice-based research degree aimed at candidates from a range of backgrounds, including:

  • Ministers of religion in parish, congregational or chaplaincy settings
  • Public sector organisations such as education, health care and social services
  • Police and legal professions
  • Those in the caring professions, such as psychotherapy and counselling or social work
  • Sport, media and cultural industries or the arts
  • Charities, campaign groups and other non-governmental organisations

Requirements

Entry requirements

A Master's degree in Theology and Religious Studies or related discipline is required. Candidates not possessing a Master's degree should have a 1st class or 2:1 honours Bachelor's degree and give evidence of prior learning or experience equivalent to Master's-level study. Applicants not meeting these requirements are considered on a case-by-case basis. International: A Master's degree in Theology and Religious Studies or related discipline is required. Candidates not possessing a Master's degree should have a 1st class or 2:1 honours Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, and give evidence of prior learning or experience equivalent to Master's-level study. Applicants not meeting these requirements are considered on a case-by-case basis.

IELTS: 6.5 (no less than 5.5 in any band)

About this university

International students

There are an average of 130 countries represented among the student body at Chester and there are country specific information portals on the website to begin the process of applying to one of its courses. There is also help and advice on hand to assist those from outside the UK in adapting to their new home, ranging from immigration and visas advice to financial guidance, help with finding part time work and accommodation assistance. Chester Student's Union is at the heart of extracurricular activities as well as supporting and representing the student body. The union operates a bar on the main campus as well as another in Warrington and three shops. There are also some 75 clubs and societies to get involves with. The sports clubs take part in the British Universities and Colleges Sports leagues as well as inter-campus competitions called Varsity. Away from sports, there are many interest based societies, arts and performance groups and even student media such as the radio station, known as Cat Radio, broadcasting daily from the Warrington campus.
