MA Screenwriting is an industry-focused screenwriting course that develops writers and script editors for the film, television and radio industries. This course is taught at London College of Communication, at Elephant and Castle, part of University of the Arts London (UAL). What can you expect? MA Screenwriting introduces you to the foundations of contemporary scriptwriting practice in a theoretical context. You'll develop research methodologies that will become the foundation for future practice and analysis. The course offers you the opportunity to study feature film, television and radio narrative, the development of a script from a short story and research, which lays the foundation for your major project. You will also complete a collaborative unit that reflects your specialist interests in scriptwriting and related topics, whilst engaging with the need to understand and communicate with the industry you wish to work in. In the last term of the course, You'll undertake a major project that allows you to focus on a specialist area of interest that you identified during your previous study. You will write several drafts of an original screenplay for film or TV or a TV pilot episode(s) with format documents. In addition, You'll engage in peer-to-peer review and the writing of reader reports. About London College of Communication The communications sector is evolving fast. Educational level equivalent to an Honours degree. It is preferable that applicants have a previous degree, but it is not essential. Students are not accepted based on their writing talent and the work they submit during their application. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 (or equivalent), with a minimum of 6.0 in each of the four skills.
IELTS: 6.5 (at least 5.5 in each)

About this university
Students travel from over one hundred different countries to study at the colleges within the university due to the internationally recognised courses on offer. For those to whom English isnâ€™t a first language, there is free English language support and courses on offer for the duration of their study through the Language Centre. There is also help on hand for matters such as immigration and visas and the university has an airport pick up service in place so that there is someone on hand from the very beginning of their student life. There is also a student advice service for day-to-day matters such as finances and getting work while studying. All students are automatically a member of the Students Union who are on hand to help with extracurricular activities as well as support and advice across a range of subjects. The union organise the various clubs and societies on offer to occupy time between studies including arts groups, sports clubs and also helping others through volunteering and charity groups. So whatever a studentâ€™s interest there is something for them and if not, they can look to begin their own club as well. The union also operates the Students Union Advice Service offering free and impartial advice on various topics, all of which is completely confidential. The union also operates a shop supplying students with a range of useful items as well as branded products to help raise money for the charity.
