You will engage with latest contemporary research in international business, develop your critical thinking skills and apply them. You will develop an integrated and critically aware understanding of management in the context of contemporary business and management.A distinctive element of the International Business MSc programme is the opportunity to gain professional accreditation from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Institute of Export and International Trade.You can choose to study this course with a Year in Industry, allowing you to apply your learning and gain valuable experience. If you choose a Year in Industry you will be studying for a total of 2 years. Your first year will be a teaching year. In your second year you will either be on placement or conducting a skills and research based module.This programme:Develops responsible and ethical managers.Develops international skills of leadership and management.Uses assessment methods which mirror organisation-based activities.Provides a supportive platform for critical reflection through the application of academic theories to your real work situations.Includes excellent personal and academic support. About this university
International students
The International Student Support team are on hand to help the students travelling from outside the UK on their arrival in York. Their services include a welcome and orientation program that includes different elements for levels of study and access to English language help for those to whom it isn't a native language. There are also regular drop-in sessions to help with matters such as finding work between classes, financial advice and help with immigration and visas. There is also a number of options to help students learn more about York and enjoy their time in the city including making use of local tourist attractions such as the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum. The Student Union is responsible for the representation of students at York St John as well as organising extracurricular activities. The union offer help and advice on a range of subject to its members including health and wellbeing matters, financial advice and even learning support. These services are based in the Holgate Student Centre. There is also a student union bar located in Phoenix Court offering a great place to meet friends and get hot and cold food and drinks. There are a number of sports clubs with considerable history behind them including the rowing club, founded in 1852 and the rugby club that was founded in 1883, also the biggest club on campus. The football club dates to 1883 and has featured a number of England international players while the cricket club is another of considerable age, dating from 1848. There are around 30 different societies on offer to students including performing arts such as drama and singing as well as interest and academic subjects such as psychology and primary education. All are in contention for the Society of the Year award awarded at the annual ball.
