    About this university

    Coventry University campus

Coventry University courses and their application deadlines may be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. For the latest updates and the most accurate information, please contact our counsellors.

    History

Coventry University is a public research university in the city of the same name in the Midlands of England. It was former as the Lanchester Polytechnic until 1987 when it became the Coventry Polytechnic and finally a university in 1992 due to the Further and Higher Education Act. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the University Alliance and Universities UK as well as being the larger of the two universities in the city, the smaller being the University of Warwick.

    International students

Around one quarter of students at the university travel from outside the UK and their first point of contact is the International Students Hub. This offers a wide range of information and advice to help adjust to their new environment and integrate with the larger community. There is help for matters such as healthcare and accommodation advice as well as support services and even help with English, if this isn't their first language. The Students Union is both a charity and representative organisation for the students at Coventry. They are based in The Hub and support more than 100 sport clubs and societies as well as an advice centre and volunteering department. The union owns a nightclub on Far Gosford Street and there is a student run radio station called Source Radio. Sports teams play in a number of sports as well as in annual competitions against neighbouring University of Warwick. The societies cover all areas of life to bring together people with the same interests and students can even apply to start their own should they find a space for their interest. These range from cultural and international groups to faith societies and music and performance groups as well as politics and special interests.

    Campus life

The main campus of the university is a purpose-built 33-acre site in the city centre beside the Coventry Cathedral and the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. It had a mixture of converted structures, inherited buildings and new additions with The Hub being the new centrepiece. This is the home of the Students Union, support services, a bar/nightclub as well as a food hall and food outlets. The building has a number of award winning features including its grey-water harvesting and a green roof. The main library of the university is just outside the campus and opened in 2000. Just away from the main campus is the Business School, in a former car factory while to the south is the Coventry University Technology Park. There is also a secondary campus in Tower Hamlets, London and a new facility in Scarborough, North Yorkshire offering courses such as law, science and engineering. Student accommodation comes from both the university and from private companies. There are four halls owned by the university: Priory Hall, Quadrant Hall, Singer Hall and 72a Margaret Road as well as houses around the city. There are four facilities it operates, Apollo House, Lynden House, Radford Road and Pillar Box, the latter of which is exclusively for postgraduate students. Partnerships with companies such as Unite, Liberty Living and Derwent Living provide other accommodation options including those shared with the University of Warwick. Currently, there are 3,579 student accommodation places on offer.

Chart description

These charts show how many students from your university and others applied to the destination university/field of study. Students in the charts shown received offers that were either conditional on additional documentation or unconditional. Others had their applications rejected.

The results are only accurate for academic scores. We highly recommend receiving professional advice from one of our counsellors. Our free services ensure application documents are the best they can be. We estimate that doing so can boost your chance of admission by 5% to 20%.

Acceptance description

The "acceptance chance" is a weighted average of up to three partial scores regarding your academic score/GPA compared to:

  • The official requirements from the university
  • The minimum acceptable academic level according to our experienced counsellors
  • Previous applicants who received offers of admission

If your "chances" are 50%, then we estimate that one out of two people from your university with your academic result would be accepted.

Our algorithm gives a good estimation but focuses on academic scores only. Academic scores are not the only factor. Your language ability, work experience, and activities outside of the classroom will also play a role.

The search results presented are based on students who have received professional advice from one of our counsellors and used our services to ensure application documents are the best they can be. We estimate that using this free service can increase your chance of admission by 5% to 20%.
