Caley rates as the second best university in the UK for its international student satisfaction levels. A large part of this is due to the level of international student support on offer as well as the quality of lifestyle on offer. the International Support Team are available to assist with matters such as immigration and visas as well as daily living matters such as making the most of their time in the UK, working between studies and bringing a family to Scotland while they study. The service is based within the Saltire Centre in the main campus area of the university. Student life outside the classroom centres around the Students Union, itself an independent charity that represents the students, provides support and advice and organises the extracurricular activities. All students are automatically members. There is also a free law clinic within the university that assists students with legal advice and assistance particularly in matters such as housing, employment and contract law. The union runs a large selection of clubs and societies for students to get involved with. There are some 60 different societies ranging from culture and faith groups to hobby and interest societies. There are also volunteering and charity work opportunities for those seeking to give something back to the wider community.
