This course offers experience of working alongside professionals in museums and galleries. You will examine contemporary issues and practices, including those relating to collections management, exhibitions and audiences. You will engage in critical analysis and creative practice, conducting research alongside museum professionals and researchers. Research opportunities inside museums and galleries enable you to develop and pursue your own interests and gain valuable skills. You will be able to manage and curate an exhibition and produce research work. – The course is taught in partnership with external institutions like the Museum of London, the National Maritime Museum, the V&A, English Heritage and Freud Museum, London. – Our partnership with Brooklands Museum led to a nomination for the Art Fund’s Museum of the Year 2018, the biggest prize in the UK museum world. – Kingston University has its own museum and gallery – the Stanley Picker Gallery and Dorich House Museum. Destinations of students who completed this course include: Tate Gallery, Natural History Museum, V&A, National Gallery, Ministry of Stories, British Council, Imperial War Museum, National Trust, Strawberry Hill House, Ben Uri Gallery, Museum of Brands, Madame Tussaud's, Brooklands Museum, National Maritime Museum, Museo Andino de Historia, Arte y Cultura Viva Peru, William Morris Gallery, Baldwin Gallery, National Museum Prague, Kingston Museum, London Postal Museum, Churchill War Rooms, English Heritage, Historic Royal Palaces, London Bus Museum, Sir John Soane Museum, Wallace Collection, Museum of London, The Barbican .... and many more! We also have students who have progressed onto PhD studies at University College London, Sheffield Hallam University, Royal Holloway and at Kingston School of Art.
A 2:2 or above honours degree (or its equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Selection includes an interview.

The university attracts students from around the world and there are plenty of help and advice on hand to make the transition easier for them. This begins with welcome and orientation events at the beginning of studies and includes events designed to help students come to terms with their new home as well as organising matters such as a bank account, access to health care and even immigration and visas matters. There is an airport pick up service available and the Yellow Team are ambassadors on hand to offer help and advice. There is also language courses for those to whom English isnâ€™t a native language. Kingston University Studentsâ€™ Union is at the heart of activities outside the classroom as well as providing representation and support for its members. Their main building is on Penrhyn Road beside the bar and shop it operates. There are some 30 sports clubs and another 70 societies on offer while the volunteering department is the largest supplier of volunteers in the borough. It also runs another two bars and a shop on the other campuses. The clubs and societies offer something for all tastes including those around the arts such as drama, fashion and even anime and science fiction groups. There are cultural groups such as the Arab Society and the Hellenic Association as well as religious ones. Then there are academic groups such as the economics club or the engineering society. Finally, sports run from traditional team sports such as cricket and football through to activities such as cheerleading and martial arts as well as interests such as mountaineering and go karting.
