Studying a Master’s degree in Childhood Studies will give you the knowledge and skills to support children and their families in a range of environments. You will develop a keen understanding of issues related to child development in contemporary society and how policy and services for children and families are planned and provided. Applicants normally require a UK 2.2 (or above) degree in a related discipline (for example childhood studies, education, psychology, sociology, mental health), or its equivalent. Applications are considered for candidates with significant relevant work experience. Applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (previously known as a Criminal Records Bureau, or CRB, Check). Applicants may be asked to attend an interview. International applicants: - English language requirements are a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in all domains, or a University approved equivalent, prior to starting the programme. - A DBS check or an approved University equivalent

For international students, there is a wealth of information on the university's website to help them before they arrive in Wales. Once there the help is more hands on and includes information on visas and immigration as well as English language skills. The English language training services is an accredited program to assist those to whom the language isn't their first. There is also help with developing a career after university and finding co-curricular activities. For non-academic matters, there is the ISAS, the International Student Advice Service who are available for matters such as health and wellbeing, bringing families while studying and financial advice. They are based in the Keir Hardie Building within the university. There are plenty of services available to help students make the most of their time at the university. These range from student counselling and health centre to academic success programmes. The campus is one of the few in the UK to have a mosque on site as well as chaplain services. Student run media includes a radio station. The university's International Sports Village is just five minutes' walk from Singleton Park campus and has a host of facilities for the many sports clubs and teams. These include floodlit playing fields, eight-lane track, training centre, lacrosse and cricket pitches, tennis and squash courts and a climbing wall. Next door is the Wales National Pool, a 50-metre pool complying to FINA standards and was used for training for the London 2012 Olympics.
