As the renewable energy sector continues to grow there is a need for trained individuals to plan, implement and manage new renewable energy projects. With the Humber, Britain’s ‘Energy Estuary’, rapidly becoming the focus of Britain’s renewables industry and offering excellent scope for industrial placements and career prospects, you could hardly choose a better place to study than the University of Hull. Developed in cooperation with industry experts, this vocational course is one of the only Masters degrees in the UK specifically designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge to work in the renewables sector as a project manager or resource analyst.
You will gain a good understanding of a range of technologies, including wind, tidal, solar and hydro-power, through both lectures and hands-on experience in the laboratory. You will develop an understanding of the key research and analytical skills relevant to renewable energy resource analysis, including GIS and industry software, as well as learning key professional skills such as project management, presentations and group work. There is a strong industrial component, including site visits, guest speakers from industry and the use of 'real-world' examples. The programme is also ideal for students interested in further research.

Normally a Bachelor Honours degree (2.2. or above), or equivalent, in an engineering or science subject and GCSE Maths or equivalent. If you hold a degree in another subject area, we would still encourage you to apply as we are looking for a real interest and passion for renewable energy and the environment. So we would be happy to consider your application. Similarly, if you do not hold a degree but have relevant professional experience and training, we would welcome your application.

Students travel from around the world to study at Hull and there is plenty of help and advice on hand. This includes immigration and visas advice as well as country specific information available on the website. The International Office is on hand to help students adapt to their new home as well as offering a first two weeks service to help organisation and settling in. The Hull University Union is the heart of student activities and organises some 100 clubs and societies, around half of which are involved with some form of sports through the Athletics Union. In addition, the union runs a bookshop, a nightclub, bars and catering facilities as well as an advisory centre and a careers service. The issues a monthly newspaper as well as an online TV station and a radio station. Notable among the clubs and societies is the rugby league club, which is one of the most successful teams within the university and plays in the top level of the BUSC league, ranking third best in the country. There is also an American Football team, an ice hockey team and a swimming club. There is also a separate student union building and facilities on the Scarborough campus on the ground floor of the main building. This operates its own radio station and student magazine.
