Psychology

University of Lincoln has opted into the TEF and received a Gold award.

Students will conduct independent research into an area of psychology of their choice and produce an extended thesis with guidance from 2 academic supervisors. The School's active research base ensures academic staff are involved in current debate and that they are up-to-date with emerging developments in psychology. Particular areas of research expertise in the School include cognitive and behavioural development, applied clinical and forensic psychology, the experience and negotiation of identity, cognitive neuroscience, visual perception and memory. As a postgraduate researcher in the School of Psychology, students will be supervised by academics with specialist knowledge of their subject area. Students will receive training in research methods and have the opportunity to contribute to the School's seminar series. There are opportunities for exceptional students to undertake undergraduate teaching roles.

The International Office are the department available for the students travelling to the UK from the 100 different countries around the world current represented. They are on hand to help with matters such as visas and immigration as well as advice and support services, while the website has country specific information. There is an English Language Centre offering courses to those whom English isn't a first language and there is also the Student Support Centre for general help and assistance matters including counselling and academic advice. The Student Union was formed in 2001 and became a registered charity in 2007. It represents the students as well as organising the various clubs and societies and runs a number of entertainment venues around the campus. The Engine Shed is one of the top entertainment venues on the university campus, a converted former railway building that is now the largest live music venue in the region. There are plenty of different activities to get involved with outside the classroom. These include recreational and competitive sports, as well as interest based groups and those involved in the arts. Societies include those in media and music, religion, cultural, international, political and even charity based groups to help give something back to the larger community. Sports clubs range from indoor sports to water sports as well as martial arts clubs.
